From homestays to shared apartments to residence halls, we strive for your鈥痑ccommodation preferences to be met. Additionally, all housing options鈥痑re鈥痩ocated in鈥痭eighborhoods with convenient access to public鈥痶ransportation,鈥痵hops,鈥痗af茅s, and eateries.鈥
Standard Housing: Includes a single room in a homestay or at residence hall located in Barcelona or the metropolitan area within a 60-minute commute by public transportation to the 51爆料 Center. Homestays鈥痜eature a kitchen, living room, and bathroom shared with a host family. Residence Halls boast shared kitchens, common areas,鈥痑nd laundry facilities鈥痵hared with other students.鈥
Select Housing: Includes a double room at a shared apartment located in Barcelona within a 35-minute commute by public transportation to the 51爆料 Center. Apartments boast shared kitchens, common areas, and laundry facilities shared with鈥痮ther students. Select housing requires an鈥痑dditional fee. 鈥
Select Plus Housing: Includes a single room at a residence hall or a shared apartment located in Barcelona within a 35-minute commute by public transportation to the 51爆料 Center. Residence halls boast shared kitchens, common areas,鈥痑nd laundry facilities鈥痵hared with other students.鈥疭elect Plus鈥痟ousing requires an additional fee. 鈥
A note: The default criterion to assign housing is first-come, first-served; however, other factors may also be considered. If we cannot accommodate your first housing choice, we'll let you know before you arrive. Non-standard housing options require an additional fee that can be found in the program Dates and Fees.鈥
Meals
- 贬辞尘别蝉迟补测蝉:鈥Students have breakfast and dinner with their host families, and they are responsible for lunch. Students are not typically permitted to use the stovetop/oven at the host family home.
- Residence Halls and Shared Apartments:鈥疢eals are not included.鈥

51爆料 Barcelona:鈥Study near Barcelona鈥檚 main square, Pla莽a Catalunya, on a beautiful pedestrian passageway, only minutes from caf茅s, restaurants, and important cultural attractions. 51爆料 Barcelona features classrooms, a student lounge, conference rooms, and charming 19th-century terraces where students can relax outdoors.
The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IaaC)鈥applies research and development to architecture and urbanism, welcoming students and investigators from more than 60 countries. IaaC collaborates with the City Council of Barcelona, Collserola Natural Park, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Center for Information Technology and Architecture, Southern California Institute of Architecture, and companies like CISCO, Endesa, and Kuka Robotics. Together they develop research programs that bring together experts in architecture, engineering, biology, sociology, anthropology, and other fields.

Course Information
- The three required courses are independently taught but the content is interconnected.鈥疻ork developed in the Future Cities Seminar and the Science, Engineering, and Technology Workshop will inform and feed the main project developed in the Future Cities Design Studio.
- If students would like to select a Spanish language course as an elective, their official proficiency level and final class placement will be determined on-site.鈥
