Favorite Foods I've Tried While In Spain
Post written by Ambassador Abroad, Finley, studying abroad in Spain. Welcome to my food tour! Take a sneak peak at some of my favorite foods I鈥檝e tried while in Spain. Over the last three months I have tried so many new foods. Everything has been delicious! I will share some of my favorites. Whether I鈥檓 eating out or enjoying something my host mom prepared, I am always tasting new things!
Food from Home
Most of the meals I eat are prepared by my host mom! She is a lovely cook and the picture shows a pretty average lunch at home. As you can see, I was eating a seafood pasta and in the background of the picture is a plate of jam贸n and a plate of tomatoes with olive oil and basil. I do not have many pictures of my home meals because during that time I am focused on talking with my host family, but the food is always amazing.

Dulces de Conventos
In Granada, using a turn table type thing called a 鈥榯orno鈥, we ordered these soft sweet vanilla lemon cookies made by nuns in a convent. We called them 鈥渘unbuns鈥! This was one of my favorite sweet treats I have tried while being here.

Sushi Night Out
Of course, knowing me, I had to find a good sushi restaurant for my time abroad. One evening I researched and found a lovely sushi restaurant Sibuya where two of my friends and I went and had an amazing meal. Everything was delicious, my favorite part of the meal was the bao I ordered, it was so good and I will definitely be returning for more!

Dulces de Navidad
Since the beginning of December I have loved trying many of the different traditional Christmas candy that comes out here. One common treat are these short bread cookies that crumble and melt in your mouth. My host family has a box with all kinds of flavors and I love trying the new flavors!

Churros
The photo you see is a picture of some of the best churros and chocolate in Spain at Bar El Comercio. I could eat Spanish churros (traditionally eaten with chocolate or a plate of sugar that you roll them in) all day!

Gelato
After a lot of enjoyable research and taste testing, I found my favorite gelato place in Seville. Mito gelato is my new go to spot because it is such good quality and consistency and the flavors are immaculate.

Thanksgiving Dinner
On Thanksgiving I was invited to attend a fine dining at, The Eneko Basque restaurant , in Seville with friends. We tried new foods with delightful flavors and because it was Thanksgiving we all ordered mashed potatoes, they were spectacular! I was glad to share such an amazing meal with friends on that holiday night while away from the familiar foods at home.

Breakfast Out
One morning me and my friends went out for breakfast at Moya Brunch and let me tell you this cafe was delicious. I ordered the cream cheese lox and caper toast and it was beyond spectacular. The toast was not lacking anything and it had pomegranate seeds which flavor worked perfectly with the rest.

Snacks at Home
There are always good snacks lying around in my house. Some honorable mentions are these
packaged cookies (middle) they outdo chips ahoy any day. The cookies on the right are also extremely good and needed to be mentioned. Growing up I was never allowed to have what we call 鈥渧acation cereal鈥 or cereal containing lots of sugar but let me tell you that cereal in the photo is mind blowing. I will be bringing home a bag of that cereal.

My Type of Snack
Since being away I have also missed some of the foods I tend to make and eat in America, so I have
adapted. I make yogurt bowls and chia puddings because they are something I love. I also make sure to
continue eating lots of fruit. I missed having smoothies so I was thrilled to find Oakberry Acai, a delightful smoothie and acai bowl place right down the street from my gym!
